Brisbane South PHN is pleased to announce Jim Boden has been appointed to the newly created role of Domestic and Family Violence Coordinator.
Could you please tell us a bit about your new role?
As Domestic and Family Violence Coordinator, I will primarily be responsible for a commissioned program working with hospitals and primary healthcare providers around education and awareness of domestic and family violence. The main outcome is to improve responses to disclosures and ensure children and vulnerable adults get the help and support they need.
What experience do you bring to Brisbane South PHN?
I recently arrived in Australia from the United Kingdom where I was working in a similar role of Domestic Abuse Reduction Coordinator at West Berkshire Council, which is just west of London. I was primarily responsible for training and advising General Practitioners on how to manage domestic abuse disclosures.
How can general practices get in touch with you?
Email (firstname.lastname@example.org) and phone (1300 467 265) would be the best way to contact me.
We are also looking to organise a stakeholder and consultation event in August to get feedback from clinicians on how to develop a new systems approach to educating and upskilling primary health practitioners.
Please contact me if you would like to know more.
