Brisbane South PHN has been recognised as a leading PHN for our work in addressing domestic and family violence within the Domestic and Family Violence Death Review and Advisory Board 2017-2018 Annual Report.
The report identifies Brisbane South PHN’s Recognise, Respond, Refer program as an example of PHN-led initiatives aimed at improving responses by primary health care providers to domestic and family violence.
A key recommendation within the report calls for “Primary Health Networks throughout Queensland to play a leadership role in training and workforce development initiatives that seek to improve cross-agency responses to domestic and family violence within primary health care settings”.
The Recognise, Respond, Refer initiative was launched in November 2017 to assists GPs in Brisbane south to sensitively enquire and respond to disclosures of abuse.
