The Metro South Public Health Unit has confirmed four cases of measles in the Brisbane south area during the last three weeks. Given the large numbers of people potentially exposed, further measles cases could present in the Brisbane south and Logan areas or elsewhere over the next few weeks.

It is recommended that health professionals offer the Opportunistic Measles, Mumps, Rubella vaccination to any unimmunised patients attending for any reason and to children from nine months of age in the outbreak affected Logan Central area.

The public health alert also lists advice on minimising the risk of transmission in medical settings and managing measles.
