Brisbane South PHN is creating a new and free Community of Practice (CoP) to support health practitioners who work with children and young people or have a keen interest in learning more about the mental health of children and adolescents.
All primary health care professionals and other interested services are invited to join the Children and Young People CoP to learn with other like-minded practitioners, further develop your local referral networks, and participate in information sharing to improve the health of children and young people in our community.
Keeping children and young people healthy and happy involves looking after their mental health as well as their physical health. It is widely acknowledged that early intervention and prevention during childhood and adolescence is the most effective way to address mental health issues.
Speakers from headspace Woolloongabba will present an overview of the prevalence and types of mental health disorders in children and adolescents, risk factors and screening as well as services available to assist young people with emotional and behavioural problems.
Dinner will be provided.
