This full-day training will increase the competency and confidence of health care professionals in communicating with patients from refugee and migrant backgrounds in aspects of reproductive and sexual health.
Participants will use their own clinical knowledge and background and apply it to a range of migration experiences including temporary, transient, permanent and time-specific migration and how they impact on reproductive and sexual health outcomes.
Topics will include: communicating contraception and sexual health; treating, and communicating with, patients who have experienced, or are at risk of, Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting (FGM/C); communicating with patients who have experienced or are experiencing torture, trauma and violence; engaging with intersections of LGBTIQ+ and disability.
