Event Details

1 in 3 older people (>65years) have a fall each year with 38% requiring hospitalisation after a fall. The yearly cost to hospitals due to fall-related care exceeds $600 million.

Within the falls spectrum, it is noted that seniors with dementia have a higher incidence of falls i.e. 70-80%; double that of seniors without dementia.

This workshop, delivered by Alzheimer Queensland aims to provide strategies that can be employed to reduce falls for people with dementia, looking at factors both within the person and their environment.

Audience: This workshop is suitable for carers, health care staff and professionals.
