Event Details

Nurses play a crucial role in ensuring improved health outcomes for people with Hepatitis B, through informed clinical management and support of individuals and families. There are approximately 19,000 people living with chronic hepatitis B (CHB) in the Brisbane region (7,294 in Brisbane North PHN, 12,057 in Brisbane South PHN), however only 2.5-5.4% of those people are receiving treatment (well below Australia’s Second National Hepatitis B Strategy (2014–2017) treatment target of 15%) and approximately 5-12.9% of people are receiving treatment or monitoring. Without appropriate monitoring or treatment, 25% of people living with CHB will die from liver cancer or liver failure. ASHM invites all nurses with an interest in hepatitis B management and care to register for Hepatitis B Nursing: Introduction and Advanced Management and Care, developed in partnership with the Australasian Hepatology Association (AHA). Registrations close 23 February 2018.
