GP Workforce Planning and Prioritisation (GP WPP) Program

Brisbane South PHN is part of the Queensland PHN Consortium selected by the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care (The Department) to deliver the Australian General Practice Training Workforce Planning and Prioritisation (GP WPP) program in Queensland.

The purpose of the GP WPP Program is to support the transition to college-led general practice training by providing independent, regionally based analysis and advice to the Department on current and future GP workforce needs and training capacity to inform the distribution and placement of GP registrars.

To support this work, Brisbane South PHN will be engaging with key local stakeholders to better understand our region’s GP workforce and training needs.

The first phase of consultation will be with general practices in our region, targeting face-to-face consultations with those practices accredited to deliver the Australian General Practice Training (AGPT) program. We will consult with Practice Managers, AGPT supervisors and GPs. Consultation with non-training practices will be via a mixture of face-to-face, email and phone.

Future consultation phases with GP registrars and community representatives are currently in the planning stage.

More information about the program can be found in the information flyer and FAQ documents.
