Getting vaccinated

The Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine is now available to all Phase 1a and 1b frontline workers in Queensland regardless of age via Queensland Health vaccination clinics. This includes aged care workers.

Workers are encouraged to register their interest and make a booking to avoid delays.

A list of the Queensland Health vaccination centres is published here.

Workers over the age of 50 can also access the AstraZeneca vaccine at participating GP clinics, GP respiratory clinic or Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service (use the eligibility checker to find locations).

Information for General Practitioners

Flag-Fall Arrangements for COVID-19 Vaccine Suitability Assessment Services

GPs are now able to claim a call out or “flag-fall” fee to conduct a COVID-19 vaccine suitability assessment service in a residential aged care facility (RACF). Further information can be found on the MBS Online website or alternatively, view the factsheet here.

Seeking expressions of interest: vaccinating aged care residents against COVID-19

Phase 1a of the COVID-19 vaccination rollout is nearing completion for the aged care sector in the Brisbane south region. New aged care residents (and those who didn’t originally participate in the in-reach program) are being directed to access the AstraZeneca vaccine through Phase 1b of the COVID-19 vaccination rollout.

In some instances where a new resident’s General Practitioner (GP) is not participating in Phase 1b of the COVID-19 vaccination rollout, it can be challenging for residential aged care facilities (RACF) to identify GPs who are willing to visit the facility to administer the vaccine.

Brisbane South PHN is seeking expressions of interest from GPs who are willing to provide in-reach vaccinations to aged care residents who are not their usual patients.

If you are interested in providing in-reach support to RACFs to vaccinate aged care residents, please email agedcare@bsphn.org.au with your name and practice.
