Respiratory and vaccination clinics
Brisbane South PHN is supporting six GP-led respiratory clinics in the Brisbane south region. These clinics offer additional care options for community members with possible symptoms of COVID-19, such as fever or respiratory symptoms.
Respiratory clinics have a specific focus and strict infection controls in place to protect staff and patients. Respiratory clinic staff use full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including masks, gowns, goggles and gloves, and the clinics have ample stock on hand to support any patient need. Clinic staff provide assessment and initial treatment as well as testing, where needed. The patient’s nominated general practice will receive the results to ensure continuity of care.
GPs may refer patients to a respiratory clinic for testing to help reduce the risk of infection to other patients at medical practices. Any people with mild-to-moderate respiratory or flu-like symptoms like fever, sore throat, cough, runny nose or shortness of breath can also make an appointment themselves. The clinics are free for all patients, including those without a Medicare card. Patients can self-refer by calling or booking an appointment online.
Some respiratory clinics also provide COVID-19 vaccination and are listed on the service finder through the vaccine eligibility checker . Respiratory clinics are the best place for those without a Medicare card to get their COVID-19 vaccination when they are eligible. Please refer to the map for clinic locations or click here to see which clinics are offering COVID-19 vaccinations and to make an appointment.
