Brisbane South PHN appoints Renee Blackman as new Board Director

Renee is a proud member of the Gubbi Gubbi (Kabi Kabi) nation and a passionate advocate for the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

As the Chief Executive Officer for ATSICHS Brisbane and a Clinical Fellow in the Faculty of Health, School of Nursing at Queensland University of Technology, Renee brings a wealth of experience to the Board with over 30 years of experience in operational, management, and leadership roles across primary, acute, and community health care.

Beginning her career as an Aboriginal Health Worker before gaining a Bachelor of Nursing, Renee has worked across urban and remote health care settings in Queensland. She looks forward to applying this diverse experience to her role as Board Director.

Our Board Chair, Fiona Evans announced Renee’s appointment, saying, ‘Brisbane South PHN seeks to support the best possible health and wellbeing for every person in the region. We work towards achieving this vision with the support of a dedicated Board of Directors.’

She added that ‘The Board is committed to diversity in all aspects of governance and aims to reflect the diversity of the region that Brisbane South PHN represents and values through our Board and Council membership.’

Renee joins a select panel of experienced health professionals and accomplished business experts on Brisbane South PHN’s Board of Directors, all who have a wealth of experience working in our region.

Our CEO Mike Bosel welcomed Renee’s appointment, saying, ‘Renee is known in the community for her dedication to improving health care services and outcomes for First Nations peoples. With our region being home to Australia’s largest urban First Nations population, Renee’s leadership and expertise will be a great support to help further our work in this area,’
