Important updates

E-consultant Endocrinology

General practitioners (GPs) in the Brisbane South PHN region can now request advice from a Metro South Health specialist through the Smart Referrals system. With the click of a button, GPs can submit a Request for Advice (RFA) to support their management of patients with diabetes and endocrinology issues.

Check out Brisbane South HealthPathways for up-to-date information on specialty advice options available in the local region.

For more support with Smart Referrals installation and training, and enquiries about Request for Advice contact the MSH GP Liaison Officer team by phone 1300 364 155 (option 2) during office hours, or email gplo_programs2@health.qld.gov.au

Free fitness-to-drive assessments for older drivers

Free on-road fitness-to-drive assessments for older drivers are now available at the Princess Alexandra (PA) Occupational Therapy Driving assessment clinic on referral from a GP. These assessments are funded by the Motor Accident Insurance Commission for a study in partnership between University of Queensland (UQ) General Practice Clinical Unit and the PA Occupational Therapy Driving assessment clinic.

Referrals to the PA for older drivers (i.e., drivers who are 75 years and older) fitness to drive assessments may be made via usual means, including Smart Referrals, and are accepted from any GP from now until the end of 2025.
