Brisbane South Joint Regional Suicide Prevention, Alcohol and Other Drug Plan 2025–2030
Our plan for improving mental health and wellbeing across our region
Together: Shaping Regional Wellbeing 2025–2030 is our plan to enhance mental health, suicide prevention, and alcohol and other drug services in our region.
Developed by Brisbane South PHN and Metro South Health, the plan is designed to:
help make sure people in our community get the right support and services
give the community a say in how services are delivered
build a stronger, more connected healthcare system that focuses on people and their needs.
The plan aligns with national and state priorities, such as the National Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Agreement.
Focus areas
Our focus areas for 2025–2030 include:
creating an integrated system of care
improving access to services
promoting inclusion and cultural safety
digital integration and information sharing
workforce sustainability and development
prevention and early intervention.
Community engagement and development of the Joint Regional Plan
We spoke with more than 300 people in our region, including people with lived-living experience, carers and service providers, to help ensure the plan best reflected the communities it is designed to serve.
To those of you who gave their time: thank you for sharing your experiences, thoughts and knowledge.

How it connects to our internal strategy
The Joint Regional Plan builds on and aligns with Brisbane South PHN’s MHSPAOD Strategy 2024–2027. While the internal strategy outlines the PHN’s direct activities and commissioning priorities, the Joint Regional Plan represents a broader, region-wide vision that was co-designed with Metro South Health to shape how the PHN collaborates across agencies and services over the next 5 years.
