Support for safe and inclusive care
Brisbane South PHN works with primary care providers and health system partners to bridge the gap in opportunities, health outcomes and life expectancy for all, particularly for population groups experiencing the greatest health inequities. We help to commission and promote safe and inclusive models of care for LGBTIQA+ peoples in our region. 'LGBTIQA+' refers to people who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans/transgender, intersex, queer, asexual and other sexuality, gender, and bodily diverse people.
Brisbane South PHN is the second PHN Nationally to receive Rainbow Tick accreditation.
Rainbow Tick accreditation demonstrates our ongoing commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, and affirming environment for LGBTIQA+ staff and support for our stakeholders. Rainbow tick accreditation reflects our values as a health organisation that champions diversity, aligns with best practice standards, and actively works to reduce health disparities.
LGBTIQ+ Australians may face discrimination and unique challenges to their health and wellbeing, as well as barriers to accessing health and support services. These challenges may differ depending on a person's other attributes, such as their age and cultural background.
