Coming soon! Practice Reflections report on Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
Healthcare providers will soon receive a confidential, personalised Practice Reflections report from the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care.
Practice Reflections offer insights into office-based spirometry tests and best practices for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) management. They aim to help general practitioners (GPs) assess their prescribing and test-ordering patterns against national benchmarks, to support:
continuous professional development (CPD)
quality improvement (QI)
safer, evidence-based care.
You can find out more about this initiative here: Practice Reflections | Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care.
If you or your practice would like support with CPD activities or QI, contact the General Practice Quality Improvement team at [email protected]
Teamwork in action: Boosting bowel cancer screening at Medicross Victoria Point
Case studies are a fantastic way to showcase your wins, share valuable lessons, and spark inspiration in others. Recently, our Quality Improvement (QI) team teamed up with the wonderful folks at Medicross Victoria Point for a bowel cancer screening initiative.
Congratulations to the Medicross Victoria Point on their achievements! They were able to:
seamlessly integrate the National Cancer Screening Register into their clinical software
enable National Bowel Cancer Screening Program kits to be delivered directly to their practice
create new workflows to identify eligible patients and boost bowel cancer screening promotion.
We’re incredibly grateful to Medicross Victoria Point for partnering with us to write a case study that highlights their collaborative spirit and strategic approach to improving bowel cancer screening access.

Want to see your practice in the spotlight too? Reach out to the General Practice QI team via 3864 7540 or email [email protected]—we’d love to share your story!
Bulk Billing Practice Incentive Program—Registrations now open
General practices across Australia can now register for the Bulk Billing Practice Incentive Program (BBPIP), which launched on 1 November.
Additionally, eligibility for Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) bulk billing incentives (BBIs) has now expanded to include all Medicare-eligible patients.
BBPIP participating practices receive an additional quarterly incentive payment of 12.5% on MBS benefits paid from eligible services. The payment is split equally between the GP and the practice, and is paid in addition to Medicare benefits and MBS BBIs.
To calculate your payments and register your practice in BBPIP, visit the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing website.
