Considering an Academic Post Program in 2027?
The Academic Post Program is a 12-month, part-time opportunity for Australian General Practice Training (AGPT) Program registrars to develop research and teaching skills while continuing their clinical training.
To be eligible, you must have:
at least 6 months' full-time equivalent (FTE) training time remaining at the start of the post.

MyMedicare reminders for practices and patients
MyMedicare is voluntary, and patients can continue receiving care as usual whether they choose to register or not.
MyMedicare registration supports continuity of care with a patient's regular practice.
Patients can continue accessing all the services they normally receive, even if they are not registered.
What practices need to know
Reassure patients that their care remains unchanged if they choose not to register.
Ensure patients provide informed consent before being registered for MyMedicare.
Let patients know the benefits of registering, for them and the practice.

Recruiting now: OPTMED-D
Optimising Medicine Information Handover After Discharge (OPTMED-D) launched as a clinical trial in December 2025 to improve communication between hospitals, general practitioners (GPs), and community pharmacists during patient transitions from hospital to community care.
GPs and pharmacists in certain high-risk postcodes are invited to participate. The study involves post-discharge MedsChecks or Home Medicine Reviews (HMRs) for at-risk patients, with results shared with GPs to support ongoing care.
This collaborative model aims to reduce 30-day readmissions and strengthen continuity of care. Read more more about the trial.
