The Initial Assessment and Referral Decision Support Tool (IAR-DST) training supports Australian health professionals to decide the most appropriate level of care for a person seeking mental health support.

Brisbane South PHN currently delivers paid training on the IAR-DST for general practitioners (GPs) and GP registrars.

Payment eligibility will end Monday 30 June 2025. Complete the 2-hour online training session before 30 June 2025 to be eligible for the payment.

About the paid Initial Assessment and Referral Decision Support Tool (IAR-DST) training

Training on the IAR-DST covers its effective use and how the tool can be implemented into your practice.

The tool supports Australian health professionals to decide the most appropriate level of care a patient will need across 5 levels of care:

  1. self-management

  2. low intensity services

  3. moderate intensity services

  4. high intensity services

  5. acute and specialist services.

IAR-DST training payment details

GPs and GP registrars who complete the training will receive a once-off $300 (GST excl.) payment.

Payment eligibility ends Monday 30 June 2025.

Please note, this is a once-off incentive payment available for GPs or GP Registrars.

Payment is not available for:

  • other medical staff or clinicians.
