Research opportunity: Barriers to the management of obesity in primary care
The Facility of Medicine and Health, University of Sydney in conjunction with University of Notre Dame Australia, University of New South Wales and general practitioners from rural and metropolitan regions in Australia are conducting a research study regarding the barriers to the management of obesity in primary care for GPs and their patients.
Audience:
Fellows and trainees with the RACGP & ACRRM

Research opportunity: REducing hospital readmissions for high-risk CARDiology patients (RECARD)
Researchers from The University of Queensland, School of Pharmacy are undertaking a study to explore the perspectives and experiences of providing transition of care services to patients who have had an AMI or undergone cardiac surgery.
This will help inform the design of an intervention aimed at improving the transition of patients from hospital back to primary care. The university hope to establish a line of communication so that they can provide updates about the research in this program of work.

Participation involvement:
Participate in a focus group (approximately 30 minutes) for a research study.

Research opportunity: Survey of Australian healthcare professionals' needs and support required to deprescribe opioids at transitions of care
The University of Sydney is conducting a research study about the resource needs and support healthcare professionals require to deprescribe (reduce) opioid analgesics at transitions of care (the movement between different care settings or providers).
Audience:
Registered healthcare professionals who are currently practising in Australia and in particular those who have experience in looking after patients taking opioids in different care settings.
Participation involvement:
Participants can complete an anonymous survey about the resources and support required to deprescribe opioids at transitions of care. The commitment time per participant will be 15 minutes.

Research opportunity: Electronic Health Records
Researchers from The University of Sydney have been working on a new research project exploring the experiences of medical practitioners with electronic health records (EHRs) for the purpose of professional learning and performance reflection.
This study is recruiting health professionals to participate in interviews about their current use of EHRs in supporting their practice, how they currently receive feedback on their performance and how the design of EHRs can be utilised to support reflective practice.
The interview will be conducted via the Microsoft Teams or Zoom videoconferencing platform and take approximately 45 minutes.

Research opportunity: What are the institutional barriers preventing healthcare workers from providing care?
Purpose of the Survey: The survey aims to identify and understand the various obstacles that healthcare professionals encounter, which hinder their ability to deliver the best possible care to their patients. The results of this research will contribute to developing strategies to mitigate these barriers and enhance patient care quality.
Participation Criteria: You are a healthcare worker (medical doctor, nurse, allied health professional) in Australia.
Time Required: The survey will take approximately 10 minutes to complete.
Confidentiality: Your responses will be kept strictly confidential, and all data will be anonymized to protect your identity.
Voluntary Participation: Participation in this survey is entirely voluntary, and you may withdraw at any time without any consequences.

Brisbane South PHN will review opportunities to collaborate on research projects that align with current organisational priorities identified in our regional Health Needs Assessment and Strategic Plan.

Please note: Brisbane South PHN will not generally consider requests which are only for patient recruitment and do not have a health professional audience.

Attach a completed Research Opportunities Request Form to your email enquiry.
Select the relevant topic link from the priorities list in step 1 to email your research request to our team. Ensure all relevant documentation, including the completed Research Request Form, is attached. Incomplete submissions will not be considered.
Response times
We aim to respond to your request within 4 weeks. For urgent inquiries, please specify your deadline in the email and mark it as 'high importance'. We will try to accommodate your needs.
