BSPHN - QVAD Education Dinner

This is a Brisbane South PHN Event in partnership with Metro South Health

Professor Liz Reymond and Dr Fabian Jaramillo from QVAD at Metro South Health will facilitate an engaging education dinner designed for GP’s working in Brisbane south. The aim is to improve GP knowledge, confidence and skills regarding individualised palliative and end-of-life care including discussions of voluntary assisted dying and advance care planning.

TOPICS:

  • A framework of care for the last 12 months of life
  • ACP documents used in Queensland
  • Introduction to VAD - eligibility criteria, VAD processes, GP’s legal responsibilities

LEARNING OUTCOMES:

  • Improve the consumers access to the best palliative care at home
  • Support palliative care services in primary health and community care
  • Improve coordination between the consumers different health services if they are at home
  • Make sure the consumer get the right care, at the right time and in the right place to reduce unnecessary hospital visits
  • Kowledge of VAD eligibility criteria, VAD processes and GP’s legal responsibilities
