Active Script List: A convenient way for patients to manage multiple prescriptions

Almost all general practices are now prescribing electronically as an alternative to paper prescriptions—in fact since May 2020 more than 219 million electronic prescriptions have been issued by more than 86,000 general practitioners (GPs) and nurse practitioners.

Most prescriptions are through the token method, where the patient is sent a token via text or email for each script. However, this method means that patients with multiple medications receive multiple tokens which can be hard to manage or locate.

About Active Script List (ASL)

The Active Script List (ASL) solves the issue of handling multiple tokens by managing all scripts and sending them to the Prescription Delivery Service for the patient to then have dispensed when they visit their pharmacy of choice.

Free learning modules are available to help your patients understand how they can use ASL to manage their medication prescriptions.

How to register for Active Script List (ASL)

Patients must first register for an ASL at a pharmacy or prescriber that offers the ASL service.

GPs can then activate the electronic script in their clinical software.

Once registered, the patient no longer needs to keep track of each electronic prescription token.
