Carina-Carindale Medicare Urgent Care Clinic opens to provide free urgent care to local community
People living in south-east Brisbane, including Carina, Carindale and surrounding areas now have greater access to bulk-billed (free), walk-in care for urgent medical conditions with the opening of the Carina-Carindale Medicare Urgent Care Clinic (UCC).
Carina-Carindale Medicare UCC is 1 of 3 new Medicare Urgent Care Clinics announced for the Brisbane South PHN region by the federal Health Minister, Mark Butler. A further 2 new Medicare UCCs are planned to open by early 2026, bringing the total number of clinics in the region to 6.
Clinic opens Monday 22 December 2025
Commissioned by Brisbane South PHN and funded by the Australian Government, the clinic is operated by Old Cleveland Road Clinic and opened its doors on Monday 22 December 2025 to provide treatment for urgent medical conditions which are non-life-threatening and don’t require treatment in a hospital emergency department.
Old Cleveland Road Clinic was chosen as the successful applicant following an Expression of Interest (EOI) process open to all general practices within the Carindale Statistical Area (Carindale SA3). The Australian Government selected the location for this UCC as part of its commitment to establishing an additional 50 Medicare Urgent Care Clinics nationwide.
Carindale clinic location and operating hours
The Carina-Carindale Medicare UCC is located at 805 Old Cleveland Road, Carina.
It operates from 9 am to 7 pm, all 7 days of the week, with extended hours of 8 am to 10 pm commencing around mid-January 2026.
Patients do not need an appointment or referral to attend the clinic. They can walk-in and wait to be seen by the clinic’s experienced doctors and nurses for bulk -billed (free) urgent health care.
The service is intended to complement existing general practice and emergency services, not replace them.
Delivering urgent care services to south-east Brisbane
The Carina-Carindale Medicare UCC is designed to deliver high-quality urgent care to the south-east Brisbane area, helping to alleviate pressure on hospital emergency departments, particularly the Princess Alexandra Hospital (PAH).
Brisbane South PHN CEO Mike Bosel said the new service will make bulk-billed, urgent healthcare more accessible to the local community.
‘This new Medicare Urgent Care Clinic in the Carina-Carindale area means people can get the urgent care they need, closer to home, without the long waits often experienced in hospital emergency departments,’ he said.
‘It’s an important addition to the local primary health system and supports the hospital and health sector to support patients with life-threatening emergencies.’
By offering a walk-in service open for extended hours, every day of the week, Medicare Urgent Care Clinics ensure that more people receive the care they need, closer to home, when their condition isn’t an emergency, but it can’t wait for a regular appointment with a GP.

The Carina-Carindale Medicare Urgent Care Clinic is the fourth clinic to open in the Brisbane South PHN region, joining the Logan (Browns Plains), South Brisbane and Oxley clinics.
