The Australian Primary Health Care Nurses Association (APNA) has run the APNA Nursing and Midwifery Workforce Survey since 2002. In 2025, it remains the only national survey focusing on nurses and midwives working in primary health care settings. 

Over the last 23 years, APNA have used their annual survey results to:

Nurses and midwives working in non-hospital settings, like general practice, community health, aged care, correctional services, First Nations health services, schools and defence, are invited to participate in a national primary healthcare survey.

If you’re a nurse or midwife working primary healthcare, your input helps APNA and its partners shape and improve the future of nursing in Australia. You don’t need to be an APNA member to take the survey.

All completed surveys are entered into the draw to win 1 of 2 $1000 RedBalloon vouchers.
