Free community hearing screening for eligible patients aged 9 months to 16 years
Children’s Health Queensland’s (CHQ) community hearing screening clinics offer free hearing screening for eligible babies, children and young people aged from 9 months to 16 years.
The clinics accept parent and patient referrals, as well as referrals from general practitioners (GPs) and other clinicians.
Hearing screenings are done by allied health assistants with the oversight of an audiologist.
Is your patient eligible for a free hearing screening?
Free hearing screening services are available for Medicare-eligible children and young people aged 9 months to 16 years who:
have not had a hearing screening or hearing test within the past 12 months
need a screening as part of a developmental or behavioural assessment
live within the catchment areas
have difficulty with (or, if parents/carers are concerned about):
hearing
speech and language development
learning and behaviour.

Logan Central — Logan Central Community Health Centre
Inala — Inala Community Health Centre
How to book a free hearing screening
Self-referrals are accepted. Patients, parents or carers with current concerns can call 3290 8970 or make an enquiry online to discuss a screening.
