Brisbane South PHN has 2 advisory councils that provide expert insights and advice to the Board and executive leadership team to support decision-making on the unique needs of our community.
We’re seeking community-minded individuals to join our Clinical or Community Advisory Council.
Applications close 7 October 2026.
What does our Clinical Advisory Council do?
The Clinical Advisory Council advises the Brisbane South PHN Board and Executive Leadership Team on improving local health services to keep people well and reduce preventable hospital admissions. Members include GPs, nurses, allied health professionals, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health workers, and more.
Who can join the Clinical Advisory Council?
To be eligible for Clinical Advisory Council membership, you will need to:
work in the Brisbane South PHN region
have a clinical background (and currently working in primary care)
want to improve the local health system in our region.
Following a review of our current membership, we are particularly encouraging applications from General Practitioners (GPs), Nurses and Allied Health Professionals. We are seeking clinicians from a range of practice settings and locations across our region to ensure broad clinical representation.
We are especially interested in hearing from clinicians with experience supporting people with disability and people experiencing homelessness. Applications from allied health professionals, including pharmacists working in aged care, are also encouraged.
What does our Community Advisory Council do?
The Community Advisory Council helps the Brisbane South PHN Board and Executive Leadership Team understand local health needs and barriers to access through community perspectives.
Who can join the Community Council?
To be eligible for Community Advisory Council membership, you will need to:
live in the Brisbane South PHN region
represent diverse community voices
have strong community engagement skills and be actively engaged with local community
have sound knowledge of local primary health issues.
We encourage applications from people who can bring diverse perspectives and lived experience to our Council, including people with experience as a patient, family member or carer, younger and older community members, and people from priority populations such as LGBTIQA+ communities and people with disability.

Term: January 2027 – December 2029
Members are paid a sitting fee for meeting attendance
Meetings are held quarterly
