National Lung Cancer Screening Program campaign launch
A new national campaign has been launched to:
raise awareness of the National Lung Cancer Screening Program (NLCSP)
increase participation among eligible Australians aged 50 to 70 years.
The It’s Good to Know campaign will run across video, radio, social media and digital channels nationally. With this campaign now launched, it is expected that more patients will be presenting to primary care clinics for information and referral.
The program offers eligible participants a free low-dose computed tomography (CT) scan every 2 years to detect lung cancer early, before symptoms appear. As a healthcare provider, you play a critical role in the delivery of the program.
This campaign will help drive those conversations and ensure more Australians can benefit from early detection. For more information about the campaign, visit www.lungcancerscreen.org.au
Integrate your clinical software with the National Cancer Screening Register to support enrolment into the Lung Cancer Screening Program.

2026 Queensland nasal spray flu immunisation program
In September 2025, the Queensland Government announced the Queensland Nasal Spray Flu Immunisation Program (the program) for all children aged 2, 3 and 4 years in 2026.
This program will use FluMist, a nasally administered influenza vaccine approved for use in Australia by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA).
FluMist will be made available for free across Queensland, in general practices, pharmacies, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Health Services, and other community immunisation providers.
The program will commence in time for the 2026 influenza vaccine season.
Expression of interest for 2026 general practice quality improvement
The Brisbane South PHN General Practice Quality Improvement (GPQI) team is offering new support opportunities for practices from January 2026.
Practices will have received an email on 4 November 2025 providing more information and an expression of interest (EOI) form to complete showing a selection of QI topics such as:
cancer screening
chronic disease management
preventive health
and more.
Each topic has a limited number of practices that can receive direct support, so be sure to get in early.
For more information, or any questions about the EOI email, contact the GPQI team on
