Prepare your practice for holiday closure

The holidays are fast approaching! Does your practice have a plan in place? To help support a smooth and safe closure period for your practice, use our handy tips below:

  • Update your practice’s holiday hours on your website, Google Business Profile, recorded phone message and the National Health Service Directory (NHSD).

  • Inform delivery services and onsite pathology providers of changed to your opening hours.

  • Communicate closure dates to patients early via SMS, email or posters in the waiting room.

  • Confirm on-call arrangements, after-hours contacts and emergency procedures with staff.

  • Ensure clinical software, backups and security systems are up to date.

  • Review recalls, reminders and medication repeats to minimise patient impact.

  • Minimise vaccine stock levels during the closure. Refer to final immunisation order information.

  • Prepare for power outages.

A new Endometriosis and Pelvic Pain Clinic is coming soon

A new Endometriosis and Pelvic Pain Clinic is expected to open in early 2026 in the Brisbane South PHN region, increasing local access to specialised support and care.

On 14 November 2025, the Australian Government announced the locations of 11 new Endometriosis and Pelvic Pain Clinics, bringing the total to 33 nationwide. This expansion ensures every Primary Health Network (PHN) region will have at least 1 clinic.

People living with endometriosis and persistent pelvic pain often face fragmented care, repeated misdiagnoses and long, exhausting journeys through the health system. To address these challenges, the Australian Government is expanding its network of pelvic pain and endometriosis clinics to deliver more coordinated, patient-centred and multidisciplinary care.
