Following recent changes to alcohol status recording in Best Practice and Medical Director, we have reviewed how this information is represented and reported in Primary Sense.

To support greater consistency and clarity, alcohol status terminology and reference values have been updated across Primary Sense reporting. Supporting documentation, including the Primary Sense Data Dictionary and User Guides, has also been updated to reflect these changes.

AUDIT-C is now the recommended measure for alcohol-related reporting and analysis in Primary Sense.

AUDIT-C provides a validated and clinically recognised approach to identifying alcohol consumption risk. Compared with simple alcohol status categories, it provides a more consistent and meaningful measure to support population health planning, quality improvement activities and reporting.

What has changed?

  • Alcohol status terminology and reference values have been updated.

  • The Primary Sense Data Dictionary and User Guides have been updated accordingly.

  • AUDIT-C is now the only measure for alcohol-related reporting and analysis in Primary Sense.
