Remunerated residential aged care mentorship opportunity for GPs and GP registrars
Brisbane South PHN is funding a mentorship program that aims to support general practitioners (GPs) and GP registrars who are interested in providing care to residents in Residential Aged Care Homes (RACHs) but have limited or no prior experience in this setting.
The General Practice in Aged Care — Mentorship Experience (GPAC-ME) was developed in response to GP feedback that identified a need for supported exposure to the RACH environment for GPs new to this area of practice. The project will match an experienced GP who routinely provides care in RACHs, with a GP or GP Registrar seeking a safe and supportive introduction to aged care through a peer-led mentoring arrangement.
Brisbane South PHN invites expressions of interest from GPs and GP registrars who wish to receive peer-led mentoring. Participating GPs and GP Registrars will be remunerated for their time. Mentoring activities will take place between June and July 2026.

Free influenza vaccination SMS recall program for your practice
Participate in a free program that helps identify and recall up to 500 eligible patients who may be at higher risk of chronic illness complications if they contract influenza (flu). Your practice will receive support generating patient lists and sending SMS recalls.
The 2026 Influenza Vaccination Recall Program enables general practices to use Medical Director or Best Practice software to identify high-risk patients and provides free SMS credits to recall those patients for flu vaccination.
High-risk patients include:
children aged 6 months to 5 years (including children from 2 to 5 years old who are eligible for the new FluMist nasal spray)
patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) or diabetes.

Health Professional Online Services (HPOS) message feature
Services Australia is the Australian Government agency that manages a range of health services and payments, including Medicare subsidies.
Health Professional Online Services (HPOS) is the main channel Services Australia uses to deliver important information to general practices. This is done through the HPOS message feature, rather than an email account.
General practices will commonly engage with Services Australia regarding MyMedicare, the Organisation Register, PRODA and provider eligibility. Unlike email, HPOS messages keeps identifiable information secure and avoids delays caused by redaction or unsecure channels.
The benefits of checking HPOS messages regularly
Messages sent in HPOS often require timely action, making it critical that practices check them regularly. Services Australia uses HPOS to send instructions, request documents, and advise when action is required. Practices should routinely monitor HPOS rather than wait for email or call the helpdesk.
Many helpdesk queries relate to information already sent to general practices via HPOS messages. Checking HPOS first means faster outcomes for practices and less waiting on hold.
HPOS is Integrated with the Organisation Register. When practices respond to HPOS requests with required evidence, messages go straight to the correct processing team.
