New hepatitis C report in Primary Sense

Primary Sense has released a new hepatitis C report. The report was funded by the Australasian Society for HIV, Viral Hepatitis and Sexual Health Medicine (ASHM), the peak body representing healthcare professionals working across HIV, viral hepatitis, and sexual and reproductive health. The report can be used to:

  • identify patients with hepatitis C

  • identify those at risk of hepatitis C or re-infection

  • monitor treatments and tests conducted.

The report is available now in Primary Sense. If you would like support in using Primary Sense or would like to get connected to Primary Sense, email our Digital Health team at [email protected].

Resources for health professionals who care for veterans

Several new resources are available to help explain how the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) provides support and services for veterans and their families.

Your practice can get the basics on veterans’ needs, what the DVA offers, how to refer, as well as services you can provide and how to get paid for them. See DVA’s quick guides and tools webpage.

More veterans’ health support

  • The Coordinated Veterans’ Care (CVC) Program provides proactive care coordination for eligible Veteran Card holders with chronic conditions and complex care needs. General practitioners (GPs) and participants work as a team to improve the participant’s health, wellbeing and reduce hospitalisations.

  • VETs HeLP is a free, CPD-accredited e-learning platform that cover key aspects of caring for veterans and their families. Through the platform, healthcare professionals can gain a better understanding of veterans’ experiences with:

    • the transition to civilian life

    • mental health and complex mental health concerns

    • chronic pain.

  • RACGP’s ‘check’ program creates continuing professional development (CPD) learning activities written by expert clinicians and reviewed by subject matter experts. The DVA and RACGP have co-created 2 ‘check’ activities to provide CPD-accredited learning on veterans' health and veterans and family/carer mental health.

  • Brisbane South HealthPathways is designed for use during a primary care consultation.
