Brisbane South PHN has 2 advisory councils that provide expert insights and advice to the Board and executive leadership team to support decision-making on the unique needs of our community.
We’re seeking community-minded individuals to join our Clinical or Community Advisory Council.
Applications close 28 September 2025.
What does our Clinical Advisory Council do?
The Clinical Advisory Council advises the Brisbane South PHN Board on how to improve health care services to keep people healthy and well in the community and reduce preventable hospital admissions.
Council membership is made up of local health professionals who provide primary healthcare services to the community, including GPs, nurses, practice managers, pharmacists, allied health professionals, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health workers.
Who can join the Clinical Advisory Council?
To be eligible for Clinical Advisory Council membership, you will need to:
work in the Brisbane South PHN region
have a clinical background
want to improve the local health system in our region.
Following a review of our current membership, we are particularly encouraging applications from clinicians with experience working with people with disability and children or youth. This focus aims to strengthen the diversity and representation of our council to ensure it continues to reflect the needs of our community’s demographics.
What does our Community Advisory Council do?
The Community Advisory Council advises the Brisbane South PHN Board on understanding local health needs and barriers to access. Community Council members are best placed to provide the PHN Board with perspectives from peoples:
with lived-living experience (as a patient or carer)
from culturally diverse backgrounds (including First Nations and multicultural communities)
from a range of locations within our region (such as Logan, Beaudesert, or the Southern Moreton Bay Islands)
across a diversity of ages (including youth and seniors)
from priority populations (including people who are part of LGBTQIA+ communities and people with disability).
Who can join the Community Council?
To be eligible for Community Advisory Council membership, you will need to:
work in the Brisbane South PHN region
represent diverse community voices, including patients and carers
have strong community engagement skills and be actively engaged with local community
have sound knowledge of local primary health issues.
Advisory Council membership details
Membership is from January 2026 to December 2028.
Council membership is a paid position (including superannuation).
Meetings must be attended every 3 months.
