Join us as a Lived-Living Experience Advisor
Help shape mental health, suicide prevention, and alcohol and other drug services in the Brisbane South PHN region by sharing your voice and insights as a Lived-Living Experience Advisor.
Lived or living experience refers to the personal knowledge and insights gained through experiencing mental health challenges, suicidality, or alcohol and other drug use, either in the past (lived experience) or currently (living experience). These perspectives are informed by real-life journeys and are recognised as essential for shaping systems, services, and policies grounded in community realities.

Engagement and remuneration information
Advisors will be remunerated according to the Brisbane South PHN remuneration policy.
At this stage, engagement is expected to vary between 1 to 10 hours per month, depending on the month-on-month activities and level project involvement required. This may evolve over time.
There is an opportunity for long-term engagement as the partnership continues to grow.

As a Lived-Living Experience Advisor, you might be asked to:
speak up for the communities you know and represent within the Brisbane South PHN region
draw upon your lived or living experience of health systems to influence big-picture decisions
make sure community priorities are heard in planning and policy
give feedback on service design and cultural safety
connect with community organisations and advisory groups
champion inclusion and help reduce stigma across the sector.
Brisbane South PHN is looking for people living in the Brisbane South PHN region who have:
received or are currently receiving care from local health services
strong connection to your community and its needs
confidence to communicate in different settings, including strategic meetings
commitment to cultural safety and equity
willingness to share your experience to drive system change
a collaborative mindset and openness to learning.
It’s a bonus If you have:
experience in advisory, governance, or community engagement.
knowledge of mental health, suicide prevention, or alcohol and other drug service systems.
an understanding of intersectional issues affecting historically underserved communities.
