Launch of statewide health pathways in adult trans health and gender-affirming hormone therapy

Australian Society for HIV, Viral Hepatitis and Sexual Health Medicine (ASHM) and Brisbane South PHN are proud to collaborate on the launch of the following health pathways:

  • gender-affirming hormones

  • transgender health and gender diversity in adults.

The pathways are designed to support general practitioners (GPs) to provide inclusive, evidence-based care for trans and gender-diverse patients aged 18 and over.

Join the free, GP-focused online session as part of the launch of gender-affirming care pathways

As part of the launch, GPs and other healthcare professionals who provide or work in supporting gender-affirming hormone therapy (GAHT) in Queensland are invited to attend a free online education session

The training will equip clinicians with the knowledge and confidence to better support their trans and gender-diverse patients effectively, featuring case-based discussions that explore real-world scenarios, clinical considerations, and best practices in gender affirming care.

Date: Wednesday 28 May 2025

Time: 6 pm to 7:30 pm

Key topics to be covered include:

  • the initiation of gender-affirming hormone therapy (GAHT): assessment, prescribing, and patient-centred care

  • ongoing monitoring and long-term management of patients receiving GAHT

  • case-based discussions to enhance clinical decision-making

  • best practice guidelines and resources for GPs.

This session will also provide GPs with the opportunity to engage with experienced clinicians and community experts, ask questions, and build knowledge about gender affirming healthcare.
