Metro South Health calls for GPs to join new advisory group
Local general practitioners (GPs) are invited to express their interest in joining the new Metro South Health GP Advisory Group, an initiative designed to strengthen collaboration between general practice and hospital services across our shared region.
The advisory group will meet online for 2 hours, 6 times a year, giving general practice a say on hospital service planning, design and evaluation to improve the healthcare journey for patients. Members will be paid for their participation.
Metro South Health says it wants GP input early in service planning
Dr Lisa Hayes, Metro South Health’s clinical lead for diabetes and endocrinology, said an ongoing partnership with GPs is critical to designing services that work in the real world.
“By bringing GPs and hospital clinicians together, we can design services that are practical, connected and genuinely centred around patients’ needs enduring they receive the right care in the right place at the right time by the right care provider,” Dr Hayes said.
“This is about building a health system that works as one – where patients experience seamless care, regardless of whether they’re in the community or in hospital.”
Members will be asked to:
contribute to the design of services including how they interface with general practice
share insights to identify practical solutions and improve patient safety and experience
help prioritise the initiatives that address the greatest health needs across the region
advise on opportunities to improve care delivery, including through digital solutions.
A diverse range of GP perspectives is sought after
Metro South Health says it wants a range of GP perspectives around the table, so that service planning reflects the realities of delivering primary care across Brisbane’s south, Logan, Redlands and the Scenic Rim.
Metro South Health encourages expressions of interest from GPs who:
have experience providing care to patients across the Metro South region
are interested in contributing to hospital service planning and improvement
can offer practical clinical advice on coordination between general practice and hospital services
are interested in collaboration and shared problem solving
can provide practical, constructive feedback on proposed initiatives and models of care.
