Open Doors Youth Service and Brisbane South PHN have partnered to help provide safe and affirming services for young LGBTIQA+SB people

Brisbane South PHN is proud to partner with Open Doors Youth Service Inc. to improve the mental health and wellbeing outcomes of young LGBTIQA+ Sistergirl and Brotherboy (SB) peoples in our region, with the opening of a new Open Doors hub in Logan.

Our most recent Joint Regional Needs Assessment highlighted that mental health was the most commonly reported health concern for both young people and LGBTIQA+SB participants in our region. And Open Doors identified that almost half of the young people participating in their service lived in areas south of Brisbane and were travelling—sometimes over 2 hours— to access support in the Fortitude Valley hub.

Together with our commissioned services, we’re working to ensure safe, accessible and culturally responsive services are available to support young people of all identities, so they are seen, supported and connected to other young people who may share some of their experiences.
