Trauma-informed care resource hub for general practitioners
General Practice Mental Health Standards Collaboration (GPMHSC)’s trauma-informed care resource hub is a free, online platform where general practitioners (GPs) can access resources designed to guide the delivery of trauma-informed care in general practice.
The resource hub provides access to guidelines, factsheets, screening or assessment tools, webinar recordings from a range of trusted publishers and providers.
Users can use the search functions to find the most relevant information they require. Searches can be filtered by topic, providers, resource type, and patient population groups.
The resource hub aims to help GPs by:
increasing awareness of the principles of trauma-informed care in general practice
improving their knowledge oof how to provide trauma-informed care
providing a single, go-to summary of the current evidence around trauma-informed care and practice in the primary care setting that has been review by experts.
Find trauma-informed care resources specific to patient population groups
Trauma-informed care resources specific to a patient’s experiences, identity and history are available on the GPMHSC trauma-informed care resource hub.
Users of the resource hub can filter search results specific to the care of patients who identify as:
First Nations peoples
children and adolescents
people impacted by disasters
LGBTQI+ peoples
older persons
people from refugee or asylum seeker backgrounds
veterans.
Given current conflicts occurring overseas, primary healthcare professionals may see an increase in patients presenting with mental concerns related to war, family separation and resettlement in unfamiliar environments. The resource hub has the capability to filter search result by the topic ‘war and trauma’ and/or through selecting ‘refugees and asylum seekers’ in the population filter.

Access the updated Mental Health Training Standards: A Guide for GPs
General Practice Mental Health Standards Collaboration (GPMHSC) creates and updates the Mental Health Training Standards: A Guide for GPs as part of the Australian Government’s Better Access Initiative. The GPMHSC has released the 2026–28 edition of the Standards with the most up-to-date research, information and data.
The Standards is a resource designed to help GPs quickly and easily find information about mental health training and education required in order to be eligible to access general practice mental health item numbers under the Better Access Initiative. It also includes a concise list of recommended mental health topics for reference when searching and selecting courses in Mental Health continuing professional development (CPD) and Focussed Psychological Strategies (FPS) CPD.
