At ASPM, we connect, train and support current and aspiring medical practitioners in the complex work of caring for the whole person in trauma-informed, strengths focused and culturally respectful ways.

The ASPM 2024 Conference Healing the generalist way: holding the whole is designed to help us remember the wisdom and sophisticated skills of generalists as they facilitate healing (not just cure) in their community.

We will reflect together on ancient First Nations approaches to healing through storytelling; reconnect to the role of the GPs in “rehabilitating the self” (as Dr Louise Stone puts it); be reminded of the centrality of therapeutic and community relationships in health; experience some modalities that help us remember the restoration of the body as part of healing; and finally reflect on our own need as healers – for healing.
