- 11:00am - 12:00pm
- Free
Event Owner: Phoenix Australia
Event Description:
Australia is entering a higher-risk weather season, with forecasts indicating an increased likelihood of bushfires, severe storms and heatwaves. For many communities, this may bring concern, uncertainty and reminders of previous disasters.
This practical webinar is designed for professionals, leaders, volunteers and community members who support others before, during and after disasters. Drawing on evidence-informed guidance from Phoenix Australia, the session will explore how to help people prepare emotionally for the season ahead, recognise and respond to anxiety and distress, navigate anniversaries of previous traumatic events, and support wellbeing in workplaces and communities impacted by disaster.
Participants will gain practical strategies to:
- Recognise common reactions to disaster threats and reminders
- Encourage healthy emotional preparation and coping
- Foster wellbeing and resilience within workplaces, teams and communities
Presenter: Alexandra Howard, Director, Disaster and Public Health Emergencies
Whether you work in health, emergency management, community services, education, local government, or simply support others in your community, this webinar will provide practical tools and evidence-informed guidance for the months ahead.
