Allergic rhinitis: New digital patient support
Allergy & Anaphylaxis Australia (A&AA) have announced their new patient resources to help support people living with allergic rhinitis. A&AA is encouraging health professionals who work in primary care to learn more about the campaign at Allergic rhinitis: patient resources.
Patients who join the Allergic Rhinitis email education series receive a series of emails over 2 weeks.
The first email includes the Allergic Rhinitis Starter Kit — a step-by-step information guide on everyday allergic rhinitis management, including allergic conjunctivitis (eye allergy).
The following emails include evidence-based information on different areas of management such as:
- avoiding triggers
- allergy testing
- how to use a nasal spray correctly
- immunotherapy
- avoiding thunderstorm asthma.
Patients can also access Allergy Educators (trained health professionals) on the free National Allergy Helpline to answer any questions. Patients are encouraged to keep in touch with their GP, Nurse Practitioner and Pharmacist as needed.
Quick and easy ways to share the campaign:
- Provide patients with the link to join the email education series — allergyfacts.org.au/allergic-rhinitis-hay-fever-starter-kit
- Print a poster to display in your waiting area, or use as a flyer to hand out to individuals (patients can join through the QR code on the poster)
All resources for the campaign can be found on the Allergic rhinitis: patient resources webpage, including the Allergic Rhinitis Starter Kit and emails in the email education series so you know exactly what patients receive.
