Free suicide prevention training now available for primary care workers
Brisbane South PHN in collaboration with Black Dog Institute is offering the Recognise and Respond — Suicide Prevention course free to primary care workers in the Brisbane South PHN region.
Recognise and Respond is a 1-hour online course that aims to reduce and prevent suicide in Australia. It equips learners with the skills and confidence needed to have a life-saving conversation with a friend, family member or colleague who may be at risk of suicide.
About the Recognise and Respond — Suicide Prevention course
Recognise and Respond was developed by the Black Dog Institute in response to a need for suicide prevention education that was specific to an Australian setting. The design of the program was created through consultations with people with a lived experience of suicide, academics and clinicians to ensure it is relevant, engaging and easy to follow.
The course is designed for workers or members of the public who are likely to encounter individuals at risk and may be influential in their decision to access care.
More information about the course, as well as answers to frequently asked questions is available on the Black Dog Institute website: www.blackdoginstitute.org.au/education-services/recognise-respond-suicide-prevention/.
