My Health Record – New legal requirements for healthcare providers
Did you know that if your organisation uses My Health Record in any capacity, you need to have a My Health Record Security and Access Policy in place? A useful policy template is available online.
Your organisation’s policy should be updated yearly, and staff need to:
know where and how they can assess the My Health Record Security and Access Policy
be trained in using My Health Record.
From July 2026, it will be mandatory for healthcare providers to upload pathology and diagnostic imaging reports to My Health Record, except in some circumstances. Pathology and diagnostic imaging reports are already being uploaded to My Health Record under the Better and Faster Access initiative.
More document types will be uploaded over time to ensure that My Health Record can better enable the availability of shared information between patients and healthcare providers when it is needed.

Dashboard to help with your influenza patients
How many influenza vaccines did your practice deliver last flu season?
Brisbane South PHN’s interactive Practice Reports Dashboard can help track your influenza vaccines delivered and compare doses administered to previous flu seasons.
The dashboard can also filter by patients age group and ethnicity. This is great for assisting with accreditation, quality improvement activities for PIP QI, and improving patient outcomes.

The Practice Reports Dashboard is now available for all practices using Primary Sense. Other practice reports currently available include Changes in Quality Improvement Measures for PIP QI, All Vaccinations, and an interactive Diabetes Dashboard, with new practice-level reports continually being developed!

New influenza QI toolkit
Brisbane South PHN has launched a new influenza screening quality improvement (QI) toolkit designed to assist general practices to understand the State and National Immunisation Programs and identify patients eligible to receive the vaccination.
Why use the toolkit?
This new QI toolkit can help support your practice to:
understand changes to the influenza vaccination program
identify and recall eligible patients
maximise access to the Australian Immunisation Register
streamline workflows for more efficient patient data management
embed continuous quality improvement by using the Plan Do Study Act (PDSA) cycles to refine your vaccination strategies.
