Prepare your practice and your patients for the heatwave

General practices, disability accommodation and Residential Aged Care Homes should refer to the Queensland Health Heatwave Management Sub-plan for guidance on how to prepare for and respond to heatwaves.

  1. Create a Heat Plan

Appendix 3 of the Sub-plan can guide you through creating a heat plan for your practice.

  2. Identify at-risk patients

Appendix 4 of the Sub-plan is a checklist to help identify patients at risk of heat illness and increase their awareness of how to stay safe during a heatwave.

The Heatwave Stakeholder Communications Kit has also been developed to assist you to communicate safety advice and raise awareness about the risks of heat-related illness with your patients.
