Access a free mental health resource supporting GPs care for LGBTIQA+ patients
The General Practice Mental Health Standards Collaboration (GPMHSC) has developed a new resource to assist general practitioners (GPs) in providing inclusive, trauma-informed and culturally safe care to LGBTIQA+ patients. *
The resource can be used in conjunction with a Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP), and may help clinicians to identify:
important questions to ask LGBTIQA+ patients
how best to ask questions respectfully
topics of discussion that might require an empathic, thoughtful approach.
Made up of representatives from general practice, psychiatry, psychology and the community, the GPMHSC is funded by the Australian Government and is managed by the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP).
