Metro South Health Rapid Access Services: Treatment for patients who need escalation of care

Metro South Health has commenced a number of rapid access services for GPs to refer eligible patients to. Rapid Access Services (RAS) provide an alternative pathway to hospital for chronically ill patients requiring escalation of care, avoiding their need for an extended wait in an emergency department (ED).

Transfer of care between primary care and Queensland Health

The Metro South GPLO Program is available to assist primary care GPs and referrers with navigating the transfer of care between primary care and Queensland Health. Please contact 1300 364 155 and select option 2, or email GPLO_Programs2@health.qld.gov.au.

Patient options for urgent care

Urgent care options are available for patients that need medical attention for an illness or injury that can be managed without a trip to the emergency department but cannot wait for a regular appointment with their usual GP.

Urgent care is offered by the following services located in the Brisbane South PHN and Metro South Health region:

Logan (Browns Plains) Medicare Urgent Care Clinic

Opening hours: 7 days a week, 8am – 10pm

Easing pressure on: Logan Hospital

South Brisbane Medicare Urgent Care Clinic
Address: Cornwall Street Medical Centre, Level 4/20 Cornwall St, Woolloongabba

Opening hours: 7 days a week, 8am – 8pm
