New online: Self-guided Quality Improvement (QI) activities now available to support your practice
Brisbane South PHN has launched a series of self-paced Quality Improvement (QI) activities to support general practices across our region in meeting their accreditation and PIP QI Incentive requirements and to help support improved patient health outcomes.
These new activities are practical, easy to follow, and designed to help practices take the lead in improving patient care. They are aligned with nationally recognised improvement priorities and focus on topics relevant to everyday general practice.
Each activity includes step-by-step guidance, suggested data measures, templates, and optional tools to make implementation simple. Practices can work through them independently, at a time and pace that suits their team.
“We’ve developed these activities to reduce the burden on practices and give them the confidence to lead their own improvement work,” said Judith Wyllie-Smith, Manager of General Practice Quality Improvement at Brisbane South PHN.
“They’re ideal for practices looking for a straightforward way to meet their accrediation and PIP QI obligations and demonstrate the work they’re doing to improve care.”
Topics include:
Improving vaccination rates for patients with COPD
Cardiovascular disease risk assessment and management
Diabetes management
Cancer screening
Data quality and accurate recording of smoking
New activities will be added regularly based on feedback and regional health priorities.

QI success stories from around our region
Morningside General Practice has successfully transformed its influenza vaccination program, achieving an impressive 298% increase in vaccinations in 2024 compared to their 2023 rates, through a concerted quality improvement activity effort involving the whole practice team with support from a Brisbane South PHN Quality Improvement Coach.
Brisbane South PHN are proud to congratulate the team at Morningside Family Medical Centre for their achievements as part of the First Nations Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) Program. The First Nations CQI Program saw several general practices in our region undertake a Model for Improvement (Plan Do Study Act cycle) with a special emphasis on enhancing primary care services for Australia’s First Nations people.
