Queensland MenB Vaccination Program update: First Nations patients of all ages are now eligible

The Queensland MenB Vaccination Program, which provides free meningococcal B (menB) vaccines to eligible Queensland residents, has been expanded to include First Nations peoples of all ages. Age eligibility criteria for other populations groups remains unchanged.

This eligibility expansion for First Nations patients also includes patients who started a course of menB immunisation with the Bexsero vaccine but didn’t complete the course.

Please note, the Queensland MenB Vaccination Program is for residents of Queensland only, regardless of their Medicare status. Queensland residents without a Medicare card are eligible for the vaccine.

Information for vaccine providers participating in the Queensland MenB Vaccination Program

MenB vaccines can be ordered at no cost from Queensland Health as part of your practice's routine fortnightly vaccine orders.

MenB vaccines are also available for purchase on the private market for patients who are not eligible under the National Immunisation Program (NIP) Schedule or the Queensland MenB Vaccination Program.

If you are a pharmacist providing menB immunisation in Queensland under the state-funded program, you will not be eligible to charge a service fee for administration. Please refer to the Queensland NIPVIP website for more information.
