Have your say on updates to the National Guidelines for On-Screen Presentation of Discharge Summaries

National Guidelines for On-Screen Presentation of Discharge Summaries (the National Guidelines) are being updated following feedback from state and territory health departments, and the findings from a literature review and environmental scan.

The National Guidelines aim to ensure that necessary information about people's hospital visits and follow-up is communicated between hospitals and primary care in a clear and unambiguous manner.

An online survey for healthcare professionals aims to gather feedback on an updated sample discharge summary, which will feature in the updated National Guidelines. Recipients of Discharge Summaries such as GPs, pharmacists, and professionals working in aged care are encouraged to take the survey.

The online survey takes less than 10 minutes to complete and will close on Tuesday 20 February 11:59PM (AEDT).

A fact sheet detailing the project and the link to the online survey is available here.

Survey results will inform the updated National Guidelines, scheduled for release in 2024.
