Closure of National Coronavirus Helpline (NCH) and Easy Vaccine Access (EVA)

The Department of Health and Aged Care advise that the National Coronavirus Helpline (NCH) and Easy Vaccine Access (EVA) are no longer in service.

During the pandemic, the primary care community was crucial in promoting these services. Thanks to your efforts, almost 5 million calls were made to NCH and 17,000 messages and callbacks to EVA.

Health care providers are advised to update any website or consumer-facing materials to remove references to NCH and EVA. You can refer to these services instead:

  • Healthdirect website provides general COVID-19 health advice, including symptoms, testing, vaccines, long COVID, and what to do if you have COVID-19.
  • Service Finder helps patients find a COVID-19 vaccine provider and book an appointment.
  • Symptom Checker helps people with COVID-19 symptoms decide what to do next.
  • People who feel unwell can also speak with a nurse by calling the healthdirect helpline on 1800 022 222. The helpline is available 24 hours 7 days-a-week and has free interpreting help.
