Free GP training on Advance care planning (ACP) and voluntary assisted dying (VAD)
Brisbane South PHN has partnered with Metro South Health to offer GPs free training opportunities designed to enhance their understanding of end-of-life care, advanced care planning (ACP) and obligations related to voluntary assisted dying (VAD).
The training will be held conveniently in your consultation room and accredited for CPD points. General practitioners will also receive remuneration of $200 for participating.
About the advance care planning (ACP) and voluntary assisted dying (VAD) training sessions
Content included in the sessions will cover:
- a framework of care for the last 12 months of life
- ACP documents used in Queensland
- an introduction to VAD — eligibility criteria, VAD processes, GP’s legal responsibilities.
Each session will be facilitated by either:
- Professor Liz Reymond (Palliative Care Specialist Director, QVAD SPS)
- Dr Fabian Jaramillo (General Practitioner Director, Metro South VAD Support Unit)
- Dr Megan Ashcroft (General Practitioner, SMO, QVAD SPS)
