Community grant opportunities now available – Help support victim-survivors of family and domestic violence
The Australian Medical Association Queensland Foundation (AMAQ Foundation) has launched a small grants initiative to support Queensland organisations that assist victim-survivors of family and domestic violence.
In Australia, approximately 1 in 4 women (23%) and 1 in 14 men (7.3%) have experienced violence by a partner since the age of 15.
We recognise that family and domestic violence negatively affects the health of individuals, families and our communities across Queensland in a variety of ways, and that community-based organisations on the front line are uniquely positioned to provide crucial support to victim-survivors when and where it is needed.
The AMAQ Foundation’s small grants initiative, administered in partnership with Brisbane South PHN, aims to enhance the capacity of the community-based organisations that provide these supports.
Grants of up to $20,000 per applicant are available for eligible organisations.
Applications are open from Monday 27 January 2025 and close midday on 24 February 2025.
Purpose of the small grants initiative
This initiative aims to provide targeted support to organisations delivering essential services for victim-survivors of family and domestic violence. By focusing on smaller organisations that may not typically access larger funding schemes, the initiative seeks to:
build capacity to respond to the increasing number of individuals experiencing abusive situations
promote equitable and transparent access to funding opportunities
enhance the delivery of support services through innovative and place-based solutions
increase awareness of available programs and services for victim-survivors.
Grant eligibility
Queensland-based organisations that support victim-survivors of family and domestic violence are encouraged to apply. The grants will focus on organisations that:
represent diverse geographic areas, cultural groups, or community networks
deliver measurable, sustainable activities aligned with the grant objectives
require additional support to expand their reach and impact.
To be eligible for a grant, applicants must propose activities that align with one or more of the following objectives:
Capacity building – Enhance organisational ability to support victim-survivors of family and domestic violence.
Service access – Improve access to vital support services for victims.
Awareness campaigns – Increase awareness of family and domestic violence support programs.
Service enhancement – Strengthen the capability of existing services to better assist victim-survivors.
Place-based support – Provide tailored, local opportunities to support victim-survivors in specific communities.
Innovation – Develop new, complementary activities to expand current organisational efforts.
Please note, grant applicants are required to report on their activities by 21 July 2025.
