Responding to disasters and emergencies

The following resources and tips can assist primary health care providers in continuing to deliver essential healthcare services during emergencies or disaster events.

Tips:

  • Consider extending opening hours to accommodate an increase in patient demand.

  • Communicate to patients any changes to access or open hours and/or reinforce continued access.

  • Regularly visit and follow alert and warning updates sites (listed below).

Follow your local disaster dashboard

Queensland’s local governments (councils) provide disaster dashboards or websites to deliver important information to local communities during and after disaster events.

Disaster dashboards generally include information about:

  • weather warnings

  • evacuation centre openings and locations

  • river heights

  • road conditions and closures

  • power and phone outages

  • school closures

  • emergency news

  • helpful contacts.

Select your dashboard link below, or view the full list of local government disaster dashboards on the Queensland Government’s Disaster Management website.
